By Damian D Pitts …to Build Great Teams and Performance For Organizations When most people hear the phrase “organizational politics,” they react very negatively. They see politics in the workplace as forming clicks and another way to keep those who go against the status quo labeled as an outsider. People also think that it’s a toxic dynamic that allows manipulative behaviors for people to get what they want by stepping on their co-workers’ backs. But not every instance of workplace politicking is a selfish maneuver to win. The text “Building Great Teams: Charting the Path of Organizational Politics” (Book Surge, 2007) takes you inside one of the greatest team building organizations in the world, the United States Marine Corps, to examine and discover the strategies that business leaders must be willing to learn, use and employ for building ordinary groups into extraordinary teams; leading the right team of commandos who understand what it takes to win on the business battlefield and defeat workplace politics using warfare as the key to experience a significant win. The strategies within the text defines workplace and office politics as “the path to smart growth…using the power to accelerate the careers [...]

By Janet Chua Understanding The New Air Supported Mattresses Things and events such as a friend or a relative coming to visit, or your kid asking you to have her friends over for a sleep over usually come to us unexpectedly. You’ll never know when those kinds of things will happen, so it’s best if you are always prepared. Having a queen air mattress is a convenient and handy solution for you to stay prepared for these kinds of events. If you are a person who loves to sleep outdoors, then you have more reasons to get one of those big and comfortable air mattresses. Don’t think that it’s going to be just one household item that you will stock in your garage for months, waiting for the next opportunity to be used. I’m sure it will prove itself to be an extremely useful purchase. For instance, as much as you love nature and the wild, no one fancies sleeping inside a tent on hard and rough ground, more so after a long day of trailing in the woods or mountains. A good queen air mattress will give you something to look forward to at the end of the [...]

by Ron Bartels, Ph.D. Telemarketers Must Obtain Prior Written Approval from Consumers Who Want to Receive Such Calls Beginning September 1, 2009, prerecorded commercial telemarketing calls to consumers – commonly known as robocalls – will be prohibited, unless the telemarketer has obtained permission in writing from consumers who want to receive such calls, the Federal Trade Commission announced today. “American consumers have made it crystal clear that few things annoy them more than the billions of commercial telemarketing robocalls they receive every year,” said Jon Leibowitz, Chairman of the FTC. “Starting September 1, this bombardment of prerecorded pitches, senseless solicitations, and malicious marketing will be illegal. If consumers think they’re being harassed by robocallers, they need to let us know, and we will go after them.” The new requirement is part of amendments to the agency’s Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) that were announced a year ago. After September 1, sellers and telemarketers who transmit prerecorded messages to consumers who have not agreed in writing to accept such messages will face penalties of up to $16,000 per call. The rule amendments going into effect on September 1 do not prohibit calls that deliver purely “informational” recorded [...]

The Homeland Security Paranoids are at it again. A few or their minions have introduced H.R. 45 to take away our liberties even more! First of all just remember, the Conservative Political Philosophy comprises 3 basic concepts, that being Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. H.R. 45 reduces your personal liberty like never before. It violates the 10th Amendment as well. The Federal Government literally has no authority to regulate onshore firearms. None whatsoever. That power was NOT granted by the U.S. Constitution and on top of that was specifically prohibited by the 2nd and the 10th Amendments. Point 1: The 2nd Amendment specifically tells the Federal Government to keep their greasy paws off our firearms and the 10th Amendment tells them they can’t even make a law to give them the power to do so. Point 2: The Federal Government is the creation of the States. Not the other way around. The U.S. Constitution is [...]

by Ron Bartels, Ph.D. - Sponsored by Real Gear for Real Bikers, Legalzoom and Jurisdictionary May We Hear From an Honest CPA? One of the primary functions of the free press in the United States is to be an ever-vigilant watchdog over politics. But the mainstream press has failed to act as watchdogs and have instead become propagandists. It is Internet Journalists who have taken up the watchdog roles the public wants to depend upon. More and more people are getting their information from the Internet instead of television, except the fast growing Fox News Channel, and most major newspapers. This is why the major newspapers are losing money, like kids lose homework assignments, and some are going out of business. Who wants to pay a newspaper subscription fee for propaganda? The old media can’t be trusted and neither can some of the new media. However there ate plenty of great Internet Journalists plugging away at research and reporting. Former Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader has written an article for his Website lambasting the CPA profession for standing by while Wall Street firms “used the latest tricks to cook the books.” The frequent presidential candidate criticized the Big Four auditing firms in [...]

In Federalist #78, authored by Hamilton, we gain a clear understanding of the Founding Fathers’ view on the limits on judicial power: Direct Quote: – “the judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the Constitution; because it will be least in a [...]

by Katherine Butler, Sponsored by Legalzoom Not Understanding The Online Gaming Laws May Be Harmful To Your Liberty The legality of online gambling is ever-changing. But one thing is constant: it makes a lot of money. In 1997, online gambling revenues were about $200 million a year. Today, the online gambling industry makes an estimated one billion dollars annually. This is a huge business, and a lot of people have cashed in on it. But it has led to some ambiguous legal issues, as the legality of online gambling is constantly being challenged. There are differences in the legality of making bets, taking bets, facilitating payments to casinos, and advertising on websites. And there are constantly new legal challenges. So here is a breakdown of the law on online gambling. Definitely Legal As there is no federal law against playing online, simply placing wagers online is legal. (However, a wager must NOT be placed on a site located in the United States. More on that later.) There is a small chance players might run afoul of state law, but there is little chance of prosecution. The only case cited where a person got into trouble with a state was in [...]

by Ron Bartels The Title Should Correctly Be Entitled: The Obama Social Engineering Plan This bill is not a economic stimulus plan. The bill is packed full of social re-engineering and Corporate Welfare which will just bog down the economy even more. It does not address employment except in very indirect ways, which is probably why Joe Biden says the economy will get worse before it gets better. This bill is a social engineer’s dream bill, which is being rushed through Congress under the guise of economic stimulus. In the House of Representatives, all of the Republicans and many of the Blue Dog Democrats voted against this social slush fund legislation. Much of this bill will have to be revoked later when the American Public awakens to the nightmarish reality that they have a much heavier burden to bare than ever before. This financial impact of this depressing bill will be blamed on Conservatives (177 Republicans and 11 Democrats)though none of them in the house supported the legislation, including the Democratic Party’s Financial Conservatives. This bill is not really a partisan battle so much as it is a battle of competing ideologies. The Nanny State vs. Personal [...]

by Ron Bartels Watchdog Report CIA Admits Lies About Missionary Deaths November 21, 2008 – An investigation by the agency’s inspector general finds that officials covered up details of the 2001 incident over Peru that killed two Americans and wounded three other people. The purpose of the cover-up was to hide agency negligence in the downing of a private airplane over Peru in 2001 as part of a mistaken attack on an aircraft suspected of carrying illegal narcotics. An internal CIA report released Thursday accuses agency officials of lying to members of Congress and withholding crucial information from criminal investigators and senior Bush administration officials. The disclosure could lead to the reopening of a probe into whether agency officials committed crimes in the attack on the aircraft, which was transporting American missionaries, and then covering it up. One of our concerns is whether or not there will be a special prosecutor and how many heads will roll up the chain-of-command. The shoot-down of the missionary airplane killed Veronica Bowers, her infant daughter and injured three others, including Bowers’ husband and young son. The air to air attack was carried out by a Peruvian warplane working with CIA surveillance craft. These [...]

by Ron Bartels Criminal Justice -Narrow Majority Favors Decriminalization $10,400 Per Arrest for Less Than One Ounce? – Is it Worth It? November 21, 2008 - A recent Zogby International poll commissioned by the Arkansas-based Drug Policy Education Group has found that a slight majority of respondents favor decriminalization of the adult use and possession of marijuana. The poll was conducted November 7-11 and was based on a Zogby online panel of 436 voters deemed by Zogby to be representative of the state’s adult population. The margin of error was +/- 4.8%. Respondents were asked the following question: “In 2007, over 7,400 adults were arrested in Arkansas for misdemeanor possession of one ounce or less of marijuana, over half the state’s total drug arrests. According to a national 2005 study, state and local governments spend an average of $10,400 per arrest on police, courts, and jails. Based on that estimate, 2007 marijuana arrests will cost Arkansas taxpayers nearly $77 million dollars. Knowing this information, would you strongly support, somewhat support, somewhat oppose, or strongly oppose a law that would eliminate the penalties for adult marijuana possession of one ounce or less?” Slightly more than 35% strongly supported changing the pot [...]

by Ron Bartels Law Enforcement Needs to be Monitored to kept Just and Fair Former Nogales, AZ officer convicted on 4 counts In Nogales, Arizona, a former Nogales DARE officer was convicted last Friday on numerous charges related to unwanted sexual contact with young women. Ramon Borbon, 40, was convicted of sexual abuse and obstructing a criminal investigation in the case of a 16-year-old girl whom he forced to touch him inappropriately and threatened to stop her from going to authorities. He was also convicted of sexual assault and kidnapping charges in the case of a 19-year-old woman for restraining and raping her. He was in uniform during both incidents. In a motion ruling during trial, Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge James Soto wrote that Borbon has “a character trait which gives rise to an aberrant sexual propensity” and that he appeared to have “identified young, vulnerable females with a history of psychological and/or substance abuse problems that are less likely to come forward and if they do, are less likely to be considered credible.” There are also at least four other complaints of sexual abuse against Borbon. The police department had earlier found them to be “without merit.” [...]

by D. L. Sletrab Editor’s NOTE: This article was written by a person who has never used a single street drug but has a passion for simple justice and freedom. The War on Drugs – War On The 10th Amendment – An Ongoing Miscarriage of Justice The Innocent Suffer – But It Affects Us All What do Ron Obadia, Nadine Artemis and Hashish have in common? Let us reword the question. What do Organic Tea Tree Oil, Frankincense Oil, CoQ10, Raw Chocolate and Hashish have in common? Answer: They all test positive for THC. NOTE: Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, Δ9-THC, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), Δ1-tetrahydrocannabinol (using an older chemical nomenclature), or dronabinol, is the main psychoactive substance found in the Cannabis plant. The Canadian and United States Federal Governments’ war on drugs is expensive and has failed. What have the taxpayers gained? Is the country free from drugs? Street pharmacists operate everywhere. Sometimes the innocent pay. That is what this story is about. However, we don’t just cover the tragedy, we offer a solution. We point out that Canadian and U.S. Governments are out of control and getting worse by the day. If we took a poll, we could ask the [...]
